What it's for
The calendar feed is a private link that your calendar app subscribes to. It brings in your bands' gigs, rehearsals and other events – from 90 days ago onwards – together with your own availability answer. Your calendar app then keeps it up to date by itself.
When to use it
- You want band events in the calendar on your phone, without typing them in.
- You want to see at a glance whether a gig clashes with something else.
- Your feed link got into the wrong hands and you want to stop it working.
How to
Permissions and limits
- Every member has their own feed. It contains events only from bands where your role can see events.
- Anyone who has the link can see these events, including your availability answers. Keep it to yourself.
- The feed is read-only: changes made in your calendar app do not go back to Pulse. Answer availability and edit events in Pulse.
- Event names and descriptions in the feed use the Language set in your profile.
Examples
Gigs on your iPhone
Open Calendar feed on your iPhone, select Subscribe and confirm. Gigs appear as "Gig: …" with your availability in the notes and a link back to the event in Pulse.
You lost your phone
Select Generate a new link so the old link stops working, then subscribe again on your new phone.
Common mistakes
- Downloading or importing the file instead of subscribing – you get a one-time copy that never updates. Always use "subscribe" or "from URL".
- Sharing your feed link with the band. Each member should create their own – it also shows their own availability.
- Generating a new link and forgetting to subscribe again – the old calendar just stops updating.
Troubleshooting
- A changed event still shows the old time in my calendar.
- Your calendar app hasn't checked the feed yet. Google Calendar can take several hours; Apple and Outlook let you set how often it refreshes, or refresh it by hand. In Pulse the event is always current.
- The page says "Not fetched by a calendar app yet."
- The subscription didn't work. Copy the Direct link (https) again and paste it completely, using "subscribe" or "from URL" in your calendar app.
- An event is missing from my calendar.
- Cancelled events and events older than 90 days are left out. Also check Bands in the feed – the band may not be ticked.
