Invitations

Invitations · Invite people to your band by email or with a link to share, and follow the invitations that are still open.

What it's for

Pulse is invite-only: a new member joins your band by accepting an invitation. An invitation says which permission role the person gets and how long it is valid.

When to use it

  • A new musician, dep or crew member should join the band.
  • Someone lost or never received their invitation email.
  • You want one link for several people, for example a group of deps for a festival.

How to

Invite someone by email

You need: Their email address and the role they should have.

  1. Open Members and select Invite member.
  2. Enter the Email address.
  3. Choose the Role. It decides what they can see and do – see Roles & permissions.
  4. Optionally change Email language (the band's default language) and Expires in (days) (14 days by default).
  5. Select Create invitation.

Result: Pulse emails the invitation right away – it usually arrives within a few minutes. The invitation appears under Members → Pending invitations until it is accepted.

Resend, copy or cancel an invitation

  1. Open Members → Pending invitations.
  2. Resend email sends the invitation email again (once a minute at most). The row shows when it was last emailed.
  3. Copy link copies the invitation link, for example to send it in a chat.
  4. Cancel invitation stops the link from working.
  5. Turn on Show past invitations to also see accepted, expired and cancelled ones.

Accept an invitation

  1. Open the link from the email or message.
  2. Sign in, or create your account with the same email address the invitation was sent to.
  3. Select Accept invitation.

Result: You are a member of the band with the role from the invitation, and the band opens.

Permissions and limits

  • Inviting needs the Invite members permission (Band Admin and Band Manager by default).
  • An invitation sent to an email address works only for an account with that address, and only once.
  • A link without an email address works for anyone who has it – share it only with the people it is meant for.

Examples

Three deps for a festival

Create one link with role Dep / Guest, Max uses 3 and Expires in 7 days, and send it to your deps' group chat.

A new guitarist joins

Invite them by email with role Band Member. Once they accept, set their member type and instruments on their page in Members.

Common mistakes

  • Accepting with a different email address than the one invited – the invitation is refused. Sign in with the invited address, or ask for a new invitation.
  • Choosing a role with too many permissions. Start with the smallest role; you can change it later on the member's page.
  • Sharing a multi-use link publicly. Cancel it once everyone has joined.

Troubleshooting

The invitation email didn't arrive.
Ask them to check spam or junk, and give it a few minutes – some company mail systems hold emails from new senders. Then use Resend email, or Copy link and send it another way.
The link says the invitation is invalid or has expired.
It was cancelled, it expired, or all its uses were taken. Create a new invitation.
"This invitation is for …" is shown.
The invitation was sent to a different address than the account you are signed in with. Sign out and use the invited address.
