Member profile

Members · One page per member: contact, instruments and functions, availability, transport and gear, emergency info and the last year's attendance.

What it's for

A member's page collects everything the band needs to know about one person. Most of it comes from their own Profile; admins add the band-specific parts such as member type, role and private notes.

When to use it

  • You want to call or message a bandmate.
  • You plan a gig and need to know who drives, who has a PA or who is away.
  • Something happens at a gig and you need someone's emergency contact.
  • You want to check how often someone came and what they were paid.

How to

Find your way around the tabs

  1. Open Members and select a name.
  2. Overview: role, status, member type, instruments, band functions, personal details, Upcoming lineup and Attendance (response and availability rates).
  3. Contact: all the ways to reach them, if they share their contact details.
  4. Availability: their recurring constraints, for example "no Mondays" or a holiday.
  5. Transport & gear: driving licence, vehicles and equipment.
  6. Emergency: emergency contact, allergies and medical notes – only shown if you may see sensitive details.
  7. History: the last 12 months of events with their answer, attendance and payouts.

Keep your own page up to date

  1. Open your own page from Members.
  2. Add or remove instruments with Add instrument; select the star to set your Primary instrument.
  3. Toggle your Band functions, for example Driver or Sound.
  4. On your own page, Edit my profile (top right, or in a tab) opens your profile on the matching tab.

Result: Your bandmates see the changes immediately. Contacts, availability, gear and emergency info are the same in all your bands.

Set a member's type

You need: The Edit members permission.

  1. Open the member's page.
  2. Under Member type, select one or more: Owner, Band member, Guest musician, Session player, Crew, Manager.

Result: Saved immediately. The type describes how the person relates to the band – it does not change their permissions. At least one type must stay selected.

Mark who attended an event

You need: The Edit events permission.

  1. After the event, open it from Events.
  2. In the Attendance card, select Attended or Absent for each person. Select it again to clear it.

Result: The result is shown on the event and in each member's History tab, where Pulse counts "attended of marked".

Keep private notes about a member

You need: The Edit members permission.

  1. Open the member's page and find the Administration card.
  2. Write in Admin notes and select Save notes.

Result: Only people with Edit members can read the notes. The member doesn't see them.

Permissions and limits

  • Member pages need View members (every default role except Dep / Guest).
  • Everyone who can open the page sees name, instruments, functions, member type, nationality, languages, local time, availability, transport & gear, upcoming lineup and history.
  • Phone, email and other contacts are shown only if the member shares them with the band. People with Edit members (Band Admin by default) always see them.
  • Date of birth and the Emergency tab are visible only to the member and to people with See sensitive details (date of birth, emergency info) – Band Admin by default.
  • Payouts in History are visible to people with See all finances (Band Admin and Band Manager by default) and to the member themselves with See own earnings.
  • You can change your own instruments and band functions. Other people's instruments, functions, types, role and status need Edit members.

Examples

Someone feels unwell after a gig

A band admin opens the member's page, Emergency tab, and calls the emergency phone number shown there. Allergies and medical notes are on the same tab.

Who can take the PA?

Check Transport & gear of each member: you see who has a driving licence, how many seats their car has and what equipment they own.

Common mistakes

  • Mixing up the three labels: Permissions decide what someone can do in Pulse, Member type says how they relate to the band, and Band functions say what they do at a gig.
  • Expecting the Availability tab to answer events. It only shows hints; everyone still answers each event – see Availability.
  • Leaving emergency info empty. It helps only if it's filled in before something happens.

Troubleshooting

I don't see the Emergency tab.
It's shown only on your own page and to people with the See sensitive details permission.
History shows "–" for attendance.
Nobody has marked attendance for those events yet. Someone with Edit events marks it on each past event.
I can't change a member's type or instruments.
You can only change your own instruments and functions. Everything else needs the Edit members permission.
